Indigenous Culture and Nature of the Amazon

MEETING WITH THE YANOMAMI

The Amazon region of Venezuela is located south of the Orinoco River, also called "Río Padre". It occupies 3 federal states: Bolívar state (240,528 km²); Amazonas state (177,617 km²) and a third state that, although it is not a giant like the previous two, has a wonderful biodiversity and hydrogeographic configuration that makes it unique, being the largest delta on the planet: Delta Amacuro state (40,200 km² ). Apure state (76,500 km²), which is not south of the Orinoco, contains a minuscule portion of the Amazon in its southwestern part. It is a savannah region with unique characteristics due to the biodiversity in the flat terrain it shares with Colombia. In total, the Venezuelan Amazon covers 458,345 km², constituting almost 50% of the national territory.

This expedition promises unforgettable experiences in the heart of the Amazon, where we´ll have the opportunity to discover landscapes that can only be found in this region called "Lung of the World", mountains at more than 1,000 meters above sea level; granite rock formations in the middle of the rivers and hidden in the dense jungle; giant and millennial trees; endemic flora and fauna; different indigenous tribes distributed in geographical areas of easy and difficult access we will have the chance to get to know up close; learn about their cultural heritage and share trails and walks in the jungle.

We begin our navigation through the Orinoco River, passing through hundreds of islands and towns; e will meet several indigenous and Creole families, until we reach the Siapa River, which is the stopping point, where we will share with the oldest tribe on the continent: The Yanomami.

In this expedition we will have traveled part of the route that the naturalist Alexander von Humboldt and the botanist Aimé Bonpland made in 1799, a trip that led him to discover and study the biology, geology and geography of America and to which he referred in his book "Journey to the Equinoctial Regions of the New Continent", originally published in French in Paris in 1807.

Take your backpack, move your heart, open your mind, let the explorer in you, live the experience of this expedition in the most remote places on the planet, feeling the Connection between Man and Nature.
